Question:

Is it permissible for a woman to read the Quran silently? Or must she recite it out loud and slowly?

Answer:

Reciting the Quran slowly is not compulsory, neither for male nor for female, yet doing so is considered to be one of the etiquettes of recitation.
Among the best forms of recitation is that one would do so slowly and ponder over its meanings and come to understand it. One may recite it more quickly under the condition that none of the letters are skipped.
As for reading out loud or quietly, this depends on the person: if one feels more alert and concentrated by reading it out loud, he should read out loud, but as long as he is not disturbing anyone.
If he feels more alert and concentrated when reading quietly, then he should read quietly. And if both are equal, he may choose as he wishes.

Question:

A relative of mine loves to read the Quran only he is not good at Arabic grammar and rules of recitation; what should he do?

Answer:

He should strive to read correctly, to understand what he is reading, and not be hasty. He should learn to recite from someone who knows better than him.

By working hard, he gains a great reward, for the Prophet said, The best of you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it. [1] And he said, The person who is proficient in the Quran is with the honourable, pious and just scribes (in heaven). As for the person who reads the Quran, though it is difficult for him and though he stutters, he has two rewards. [2]

Question:

When he instructs his students how to recite the Mushaf, does a teacher have to have ablution or is purity not a condition in such case?

Answer:

Here, a teacher is like everyone else; he cannot touch the Mushaf unless he is in a state of purity according to the view of the majority of the scholars, as well as the Four Imams, may Allaah have mercy upon them.

This is because of the Hadiths of Amr bin Hazm in wich the Prophet said: None touches the Qurýan except the pure. [1] This is a Hadith with a good chain of narration, recorded by Abu Dawud and others, in both connected form as well as Mursal [2] form.

There are many routes for it that support its authenticity in connected form, and it was according to this that the Companions of the Prophet judged, may Allaah be pleased with them. And with Allaah is the facilitation to do what is correct.

AND THE HEAVEN SHALL BE OPENED, AND IT WILL BECOME AS GATES http://kaligayahan.org/index.php/fatawas/172-qur-aan-and-commentary/1193-and-the-heaven-shall-be-opened-and-it-will-become-as-gates http://kaligayahan.org/index.php/fatawas/172-qur-aan-and-commentary/1193-and-the-heaven-shall-be-opened-and-it-will-become-as-gates AND THE HEAVEN SHALL BE OPENED, AND IT WILL BECOME AS GATES

Question:

What is the meaning of this verse: And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates. [1]

Answer:

This precious verse points to events on the Day of Judgement: the gates of the heaven will be open from all directions; there will be many gates, from which the angels will descend; Allaah Almighty says: And (remember) the Day when the heaven shall be sent asunder with clouds, and angels will be sent down, with a grand descending.

The sovereignty on that Day will be the true (sovereignty), belonging to the Most Beneficent (Allaah), and it will be the hard Day for disbelievers. [2] And this verse points out to this opening.

It has been recited in two ways:
The first one: And the heaven shall been opened, and it will become as gates.

And the Second one: And the heaven has been opened, and it will become as gates. The Second one is more impressive as it implies exaggeration and abundance.

ALLAAH RELATES IN THE QURAN WHAT PEOPLE FROM THE PAST SAID, HE RELATES THE MEANING, NOT THE EXACT WORDS http://kaligayahan.org/index.php/fatawas/172-qur-aan-and-commentary/1192-allaah-relates-in-the-quran-what-people-from-the-past-said-he-relates-the-meaning-not-the-exact-words http://kaligayahan.org/index.php/fatawas/172-qur-aan-and-commentary/1192-allaah-relates-in-the-quran-what-people-from-the-past-said-he-relates-the-meaning-not-the-exact-words ALLAAH RELATES IN THE QURAN WHAT PEOPLE FROM THE PAST

SAID, HE RELATES THE MEANING, NOT THE EXACT WORDS

Question:

When there is a dialogue in the Quran, and at least one of the two speakers is a human being, does the verse convey that persons exact words or the meaning of what he said?

Answer:

It appears to me what whatever dialogue Allaah Almighty relates of people from previous nations, He is relating the meaning, while the expression is from Him. This is because the Quran was revealed in the Arabic tongue, and as it is well-known, the people of previous nations did not speak Arabic, so Allaah related the meaning of what they said in the Arabic language. This proves that Allaah Almighty narrated their sayings with the meanings of what they said, not the expressions they used.

Question:

What is the ruling on reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday during the day and night?

Answer:

The recitation of Surah Al-Kahf on Friday is a preferred act and there is merit in it ... and there is no difference between a person reciting it from the Book, or by heart ... and the day, according to the Islamic law, is from the time of sunrise until sunset ... and based upon this, if a person recites it after the Friday prayer, he will receive the reward for it.

Question:

Is it permissible to habitually recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Al-Insan in the Fajr prayer on Friday?

Answer:

It is prescribed to recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Ad-Dahr (i.e. Al-Insan) in the Fajr prayer on Fridays, and there is no objection to one habitually doing so. However, if it is feared that some of the people will think that it is obligatory to do so, then it is lawful for him (i.e. the Imam) not to recite it sometimes.

Question:

Some of those who memorize the Quran in Morocco, earn their living by reciting it. Whenever there is a banquet they attend to read the Quran without contemplating its meaning nor respecting its recitation.
They attend such parties only to collect money and charitable gifts from people who accept the blessing. After collecting these gifts, they divide it amongst themselves while poor people do not receive anything from it.

What is the ruling of Islamic law on this charity which they collect and divide amongst themselves, and the recitation which they use?
I read that the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: He who uses the Quran to earn his living, will come on the Day of Resurrection with a bony face. i.e. no flesh on it. Is this Hadith authentic? And What is the meaning of the following Verse: Say, I do not ask you for a reward. [1]

Answer:

First, the recitation of the Quran is a sheer ritual, and a means of seeking nearness to Allaah. The Muslim is supposed to fulfill these rituals for the sake of Allaah, and His reward. Question:

Why is the following verse not written on Tafsir books : None can touch but purified : [1]

Answer:

Since a Tafsir book contains words of men, it is like all other religious books: a person who is impure may touch it, even if all or more of the Qur'an is written in it. What is forbidden is for an impure person to touch a copy of the Qur'an, which either consist of the Qur'an by itself or what is for the most part of the Qur'an.

Question:

Is it true that Qur'an was revealed with letters that had no points nor vowel symbols, indicating how they should be pronounced? If so, how then was it recited?

Answer:

Is it true that the early Mushafs that were recorded had no vowels, points or signs indicate when to pause; rather, points and vowels symbols were actually written during the time of the Tabi'in (Companion of the Prophets Companions). During the time of the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wassallam , people would read, not from written, from their memory and from what they were taught by their teachers.
