TAXIDERMY IS FORBIDDEN

Question:

What is the Islamic ruling on stuffing animals and birds? Does doing so fall under the ruling of statues?

Answer:

The Committee for Scientific Researches and Religions Verdicts has been asked this question, and every member agrees that this practice is forbidden for two or more reasons:

1) It is a futile practice that involves wasting money.

People may be led to hang images similar to it, other types of stuffed animals, or become confused by them saying that this is a stuffed animal, it is not a picture, leading to an increase in images and statues. Therefore, we hold the view that taxidermy is not allowed.
